Who We Are

A registered society working at the doorstep, in Jammu

Samvedna Society is a registered non-governmental organisation with its head office at Lane No. 1-A, Talab Tillo, Jammu – 180002. Its guiding line is सेवा परमो धर्मः — service is the highest duty.

The Society works across Jammu district and into Samba, in partnership with the Civil Administration and Jammu & Kashmir Police. Its work is service delivery rather than cash fundraising: camps, certificates, cards, medicines, aids and relief — handed over free of cost, very often at people’s own doorsteps.

Aims & Objectives

What the Society exists to do

  • To develop and spread the idea of friendship among all religions.
  • Work jointly with the Civil Administration and Police in any emergency situation or natural disaster.
  • Make young people aware of the drug menace and work for a drug-free society.
  • Reach the unreached sections of society.
  • Provide doorstep services to needy persons including patients, Divyang persons and senior citizens.
  • Empower women, encouraging them to start their own business through training and information on government-sponsored schemes.
  • Create awareness among the public about cleanliness, hygiene and voting rights.
  • Provide free healthcare through check-up camps, free medicines and free treatment for the needy.
  • Encourage young people to take up physical games and sport.
  • Create awareness about preservation of the environment.

I believe I was born to serve those in need. I started this journey single-handedly, without support from anyone — driven only by the will to help the needy people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Chairman has met the Lt. Governor to brief him on Samvedna Society’s social welfare, health awareness and cultural preservation work across the Union Territory, most recently in November 2025.

His work, in his own record

Sh. Keshav Chopra has been engaged in social work in Jammu for several years, beginning single-handedly and without institutional backing. He chairs Samvedna Society from its head office at Talab Tillo, and serves as a member of the Divisional Advisory Committee constituted under the PCPNDT Act, 1994 and the Prevention of SC & ST Atrocities Act for Jammu District.

  • Distributed more than 20,000 Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) Golden Cards, prioritising the sick, the elderly and people too occupied serving society to arrange one — many delivered at their own doorstep.
  • Facilitated pension benefits — widow, old-age and handicap pension — for more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
  • Distributed over 10,000 domicile certificates at people’s doorsteps, including urgent cases such as a student needing one for admission.
  • Organised more than 100 free health and eye check-up camps, with free medicines, free spectacles and support for cataract surgeries.
  • Led Covid-19 relief with the Police and Civil Administration — free ration, food packets, masks, sanitizers, milk for children and cooking gas for the elderly — and felicitated frontline Corona Warriors.
  • Organised plantation drives, Swachhta, fogging and sanitisation programmes, and repeated langars, including for flood-affected families.
  • Ran police–public meetings with J&K Police to curb the drug menace, and organised the Anti-Drug Cricket Tournament — Jammu Veteran League.
  • Worked with Booth Level Officers on voter enrolment and correction camps, delivering Voter ID cards to senior and first-time voters at home.
  • Ran Aadhaar enrolment camps for the general public, Divyang children, CISF jawans at Jammu Airport, Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims (29-06-2022 to 11-08-2022, continuously), police personnel, media families, DC Office employees and children rescued by the District Child Protection team.
  • Partnered with Mahila Shakti Kendra Jammu to make women aware of government schemes and to train them in making juices, sauces and pickles for self-employment.
  • Provided wheelchairs, hearing-aid kits and disability certificates to Divyang persons with the Social Welfare Department.
  • Distributed blankets to homeless people through severe Jammu winters.
  • Organised the Duggar De Rattan Awards, felicitating Dogri artists, writers, poets, singers, sportspersons, choreographers and dancers.
  • Performed, with Sewa Samiti Jammu, the immersion of the ashes of approximately 60 unclaimed and unidentified individuals with proper religious rites in the Chenab at Akhnoor.
  • Met Hon’ble Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha to brief him on the Society’s social welfare, health awareness and cultural preservation work.

    YouTubers, vloggers and content creators honoured and briefed on the drug menace, with ADC Jammu as Chief Guest.

  2. 106th Free Eye Screening & Health Check-Up Camp

    Held at Katal Batal, Nagrota, alongside a drug-awareness programme.

  3. Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan dance competition

    More than 300 students took part at Jammu Club.

  4. Duggar De Rattan Awards, Edition 2

    Second edition held to promote local talent, culture and the Dogri language.

  5. 12th Varshik Langar

    Held at Talab Tillo, inaugurated by Shri Sat Sharma, BJP President and Hon'ble Member of the Rajya Sabha.

  6. 101st Free Eye & General Health Camp

    Held at Rehari; 104 patients benefitted.

  7. Anti-Drug Cricket Tournament — Jammu Veteran League

    Held at M. A. Stadium, Jammu from 20 to 29 November 2025, closing with a Police versus Media match.

  8. Langar for flood-affected families

    Organised at Shree Guru Kabeer Colony, Talab Tillo, for families affected by flooding.

  9. Duggar De Rattan Awards 2025

    Dogri artists, writers, poets, singers, sportspersons, choreographers and dancers felicitated to promote Dogri culture.

  10. Immersion of ashes of ~60 unclaimed individuals

    Performed with Sewa Samiti Jammu, with proper religious rites, in the Chenab River at Akhnoor.

  11. 97th Free Eye Camp for PNB Pensioners

    Camp for members of the All India Punjab National Bank Pensioners' Association — 138 patients treated.

  12. 11th Varshik Langar on Maha Shivratri

    Inaugurated at Talab Tillo by Shri Sat Sharma and MLA Jammu West Shri Arvind Gupta.

  13. Met the Hon'ble Lt. Governor

    Apprised Shri Manoj Sinha of issues of public importance and briefed him on the Society's activities.

  14. National Youth Day at Muskan Home

    Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and Makar Sankranti celebrated with the children of Muskan Home for Mentally Challenged Children, Channi Rama.
